Tribal Council Election Rules
In the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation’s Constitution, Article VI, pertaining to Elections and Voting the Tribal Council is able to appoint an independent Election Board to “impartially and fairly supervise elections.”
The Election Board oversees and implements it’s rules from the Nation’s Constitution and the Law and Order Code, Chapter 3, entitled, “Elections” to impartially and fairly fill vacant positions of those that seek the offices of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, two Council Members, and Tribal Secretary.
It is further the duty of the Election Board to assure that all of the relevant election dates and deadlines are met and shall possess the powers necessary to conduct an orderly and fair election.
The Election Board also ensures that all elections are conducted according to the Constitution and the Election Ordinance of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Law and Order Code. It is also the Election Board’s responsibility to hear election contests and disputes.
