Detective Lezlie Thompson was selected ‘Employee of the Quarter’ for January through March 2013. This is for the dedication, determination and initiative you took in advocating for the prosecution of a case involving sexual criminal conduct against a minor child victim. You investigated this case and after completing your original investigation, you submitted the case to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for review. Ultimately the U.S. Attorney’s office declined this case.
You then attended training where the U.S. Attorney’s Office made a public declaration that their office would charge these types of sexual criminal cases against all persons. At this point you took it upon yourself to re-contact the U.S. Attorney’s Office and ask them to review this case one more time. The U.S. Attorney’s office reviewed the case once more, at your insistence, and has now agreed the case will be prosecuted.
Your professionalism helps strengthen the image the Police Department wishes to portray to the public and is a fine example of our mission statement.
